Teacher's Comments

In our school, we organized our "Kids' reporter group" with pupils who were in the sixth grade and had special interest on the project "Harima local history by Kids". This group consisted of 10 school boys and girls.
We failed to make timely decision on joining this project. At the end of the last summer vacation, we barely managed to have a meeting for choosing the places to be covered by our Home Page.
We started our real activities at the beginning of the second semester in autumn. (N.B. In Japan, the school year starts in spring)
The kids worked enthusiastically since they had much interest on Internet. They had no experience of handling digital cameras.
But they tried again and again to get satisfactory results with checking the photos at each trial. They rapidly mastered the digital cameras.
They found that they had not know completely even about their familiar neighborhoods. They seemed to get impressive experiences through the activities of this project.
If we had known this project "Harima local history by Kids" at the beginning of this school year, we might be able to finish better job.
We feel regret a little on that point.
On the other hand, it was a great opportunity for us to express ourselves by using the latest methods.
I think that this experience left stronger impressions in their minds than ever.
In our city Himeji, personal computers are now coming into many schools. I have a dream to lead our school kids to enjoy the computers and to regard the machines as tools for daily lives.
