Shozui Temple

I looked up Shozui Temle. I found the big bell hung beside the gate of the temple. I heard that the big bell had been designated one of the cultural assets of Himeji city and thought that we had to preserve it carefully forever. I want to strike the bell once.
I learned that there had been Onda elementary school which is the predecessor school of Yasumuro elementary school in the precincts of Shozui Temple. I was very suprised to know that first. I was also intersted in the animal-shaped decorations. I found the elefant-shaped decorations at the main hall of the temple and the gate. I don't know why such strange decorations were there. Moreover, such a near place I found also 'Shitomi-do'(latticed shutters) which I learned in social studies.
