The lord Ikeda, who had that famous Himeji castle built,
had this stone gate and bridge constructed.
This is very old and fixed here and there with wire.
It is said that if you manage to put a stone on the stone gate,
which is high, your wisheswill come true.
But I am a little doubtful, because my wishes haven't come true yet
though I tried some times.
